For parents with young kids

EDU Corner

A small collection of educational projects and tools you can try at home.

Project 1

Spell the Magic Dragon (STMD)

Spell the Magic Dragon is a dungeon-crawling spelling game for early readers, based on phonics principles. Kids visit different realms and face off against a Wizard, a Knight and a Spy (and a Dragon!) in epic spelling battles.

It turns spelling practice into an adventure — explore the world, beat mini-games to earn gold, and build a trophy collection as reading skills grow.

For desktop/laptop only (not mobile). More tips and notes for parents are in the full post on X.

Project 2

Make a Book With Your Kids (Using AI)

Teach your kids to use AI to increase their creativity and augment agency — not take it away. One way to do that: make a book with them about their favourite things.

The idea is collaborative. You and your child pick a topic they love, shape the story together, and use AI as a creative partner for writing and illustration — like the example crossover book shown in the post. The full step-by-step instructions are in the thread on X.

Project 3

Peaceful Creative (Minecraft Mod)

Peaceful Creative is a mod for Minecraft Java Edition that turns the user into a pacifist. While any player in the world is in Peaceful Creative mode, mobs won’t take damage from you or the environment (so no fall or lava damage).

Players can still use melee tools and shields for aesthetics (making contact does nothing), but projectile and throwable items are blocked so there’s no shooting.

To install: download the JAR below, install Minecraft 26.1.2 and Forge 64.0.4 (via CurseForge, Prism Launcher, or the official installer), then copy the JAR into your instance’s mods folder and launch the game — no extra config required.
